Now in Thailand is to dry so I have my first trip to Borneo, in the northern part of the island, Sabah, Malaysia because her is in January/February still raining season with the northeast monsoon. The first 2 weeks I stay in a lodge near the Kinabalu mountain on a altitude of about 1600 meter. The weather was cool about 15-18 degree and most of the time very cloudy with only some few times sunny. The forest was a mountain evergreen forest with some nice tree ferns and in the national park also some nice pitcher plants a carnivorous plant. Much interesting for me was the insect live at night so there was many moths at the light and some few butterfly's on the day if the sun come out for short time.
There was also many birds around the kinabalu mountain.
The last 5 days (it was already full moon so a not good time for insects at night on the light) I travel to the Kinabatangan river on the east coast of Sabah to see some wildlife there. The Forest there is only a narrow strip along the river because unfortunately there a much oil palm plantations. But there is still much wildlife and I saw many monkeys (Macaques and the famous Proboscis monkey) but also a Orangutan mother with her infant, crocodiles and many hornbills.
