I have a interesting trip with my friends Roland Maennel (Zoo Leipzig, Germany) and Bernd Geidel (Zoo Dresden, Germany).First day's we stay in Khao Yai NP, Nakhon Ratchasima province Thailand for see some wildlife. There was monkey's, one Elephant come out of the forest, one of the last Siam crocodile resting on a large tree over the river and also there was an interesting freshwater sponge and a whip spider in a cave.
Then we drive to Khao Kieo, Chayaphum province there we see much hog and sambar deer's, a peacock drinking water on a lake and we see also the rare white winged duck.
Next destination was Phu Pan in Sakon Nakhon province. There was very dry and we visit a nice sandstone plateau. One old man try to get some tadpole in the last water basin and I see many caterpillar's of Theretra oldenlandiae (Sphingidae) feeding on a small Araceae on the sandstone plateau. At nighttime we stay next to a small road in the forest to see some moth's came to the light.
Then we cross the border to Laos and stay there in the limestone mountain's near Thakhek, Khammouan province. But it was very dry and only some few moth's came to the light.
After some day's we drive more to the north of the limestone mountain's and there is a nice view point at a altitude of about 500 m. Before we arrive there we had a nice sunset over the Mekong river. At nighttime very interesting moth's came to the light especially a new species of the genus Griseosphinx (Sphingidae)
